ausSCIG Website and Members Only Wiki Go Live
The Australian Solar Cooling Interest Group (ausSCIG)
website and members only wiki have gone live today and aim to
provide a public point of reference for ausSCIG as well as providing
convenient and effective group communication, organisation and
coordination of effort and resources.
The website has been designed to provide
information to members, media, Government and other interested
parties. The wiki is a members-only webpage which allows members to:
- Interact with each other in an
online forum
- Directly contribute to ausSCIG
knowledge and resources
- Register interest in participating in
work groups and tasks
- Catch up on industry news and
developments
- Access and contribute to a technical
run-down on Solar Cooling technology
- Be listed on an online Participant
List and Industry Directory
- Access and contribute to resources such
as Case Studies
ausSCIG is a sub-group of the Australian
Institute of Refrigeration Airconditioning and Heating (AIRAH)
and the International Institute of Refrigeration Australia (IIR
Australia).

ausSCIG Submits Comment on MRET Expansion
Legislation
The Australian Solar Cooling Interest Group (ausSCIG)
has made a submission to the Department of Climate Change as part of
the consultation phase for the Renewable Energy (Electricity)
Amendment Bill 2008.
The submission recommended the inclusion of
solar powered cooling and air conditioning systems in the Renewable
Energy (Electricity) Act legislation in order to combat climate
change by reducing the significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
generated by the electricity sector in servicing the residential and
commercial building sectors.
The submission represents the interests of
163,000 people employed in an industry which generates $16b in
direct spending and is responsible for 7% of Australia’s greenhouse
gas emissions.
All submissions are due to be published on the
Department of Climate Change website. The ausSCIG submission can now
be read in full on the Members Only ausSCIG wiki.
